Yup - I completely agree. It was really good to see Dave back and I think he has a similar scary presence. Sean O'Kane managed to scare the er....well ya know out of the contestants. Like the time the guy climbed in the back of a truck, thinking the Interceptor had gone. He hadn't he was waiting just round the corner and when the truck came out, he leaned right over the truck doing his eagle impression. The poor bloke went white and complained to Annabel about having a minor coronary! :o)

I just want to see it back on the screen for starters!

Please channel4, give it a go! You won't regret it! :o)

I don't have a direct contact to Sean, but I do email a friend of his in the states occasionally. How about if I get a contact address for him, so that we can tell him about the renewed interest in Interceptor? I'm sure he'd LIKE to know! :o)

Yes... I agree with everyone else... Bring Interceptor back... I do remember it and I do remember Annabel Croft, I had quite a crush on her at the time...

If were talking about bringing it back who do you all think we should get to do Annabels part???? If Annabel would not do another series???

Hi all ! Thought I'd respond as I started this (pretty one sided) "debate", repeats would be cool, especially as I've forgotten everything that happened (unlike you lot it would seem) I will take at least part of the credit if we DO get it back on tele, which is unlikely despite what you may say. Any response from Sean yet Chris?

You're jogging my memory a bit though, the rabbit quote from one of the messages above had me in fits for days. Yes to Dave McBride as a new Interceptor, he was always the best tracker on Wanted anyway.

As for the Notts connection, I live in Merseyside, anyone else from round there?

I've written you an E-Mail, Chris re.videos and other stuff and I'll post it tommorow, probably.

Until next time,

New Annabel Croft: Personally don't think you have to look too far past Ullllllrika-ka-ka-ka-ka-ka, if you can afford her prices, given that she's got the looks and the talent (Gladiators' success is NOT even partially due to Fashanu). Failing that - and getting back on-topic - seeing as we're in the business of casting Wanted stars for new roles, I wonder if VF or SO have the presence to make it as the anchorwoman for a whole show?

Id forgotten about that old programme.........

Until Chris mentioned the Tractor scam of course then it all came RUSHING BACK....!

But there was one phrase that always really really annoyed me...Annabelle's "Oh no, he got you....Oh dear...!" It was SOOOOO false.....

But despite all that, bring it back.......I'd love to give it a go myself...!

Yup! There is a classic Annabel quote - apart from the usual "QUICK, QUICK, QUICK" she used to scream at every oppurtunity.

She once said to one of the contestants - "You're looking for a key!! <pause> Its a small silver thing" :o)

True!!!

Hey, I've just been reading how much this little thread of messages has been taking off since the other week. I really hope some Channel 4 people are reading these messages. Repeats PLEASE!! (ASAP)
I can't believe that it ended after one series as it was SO much more exciting than Treasure Hunt. You're right, it would have lasted so much longer on C4 BUT the one thing we're overlooking is cost. ITV used this as another excuse not to recommission the series. You need two helicopters (one for the contestants/onr for Interceptor) and then there was the bikes, cars etc.. it all added up.
But what the hell C4.
PUT US OUT OF OUR MISERY!!!! (please.)

(yellow contestant) where's the Interceptor...hes gone?... In shame!!

Re: Interceptor

I wonder if any Channel 4 officials out there have the guts to post a message on this thread, let us know why you are not prepared to ressurect one of the most exciting and original programmes ever on TV, there must be at least 25 people who've appealed for repeats at the very least, and that's surely more viewers than Fluke gets in a week, they repeated Treasure Hunt, which incidentally my parents were once contestants on, two or three years ago and the Crystal Maze comes back in every school holiday so come on Channel 4, whats the "officical" view on the greatest programme of all time?

How can your parents have been contestants on Treasure Hunt two or three years ago when the final ever series was made in 1988, broadcasting in 1989?!!!!! I smell something fishy.

Methinks he's referring to the repeats being 2 or 3 years ago. Aren't they still being repeated on Challenge TV? They were on the old Family Channel for a long time.

> I smell something fishy.

Oo-er.

I dearly hope for Interceptor repeats, but it wouldn't make much sense to me to repeat them on C4, it originally being an ITV show. However, were one of the satellite repeat channels to get the rights to a repeat, it could end up being very very good indeed for that channel. The only problem I could see is confusion over who owns the rights to the shows, Chatsworth, Thames or both...

Take care
Chris

Re: Interceptor

I don't care who shows it - but I'd really like to see it on Channel 4. I think it is exactly the right sort of
programme for Ch4. Judging by the interest shown here after all these years, I think repeats would be a huge success - which might - just might prompt a new series.

Maybe it was a show ahead of its time eh? I'll admit that it looked kind of out of place on ITV right after Coronation Street! :o)

Channel 4 - please give Interceptor a new lease of life! PLEASE!! I'll do anything!! :o)

SteveP - give us your email eh mate? To arrange the pubmeet. I've been off sick this week - so maybe arrange something for next week?

People who like both Interceptor and Wanted may well be interested in a mailing list set up to discuss UK game shows; truly outstanding shows such as these are likely to feature heavily in the discussion. Please look in the "Announcing new mailing list" thread lower down (?) in the topics listing if you're interested.

Thanks!

Greetings fellow fans,

I'm not sure Sean would be essential for Interceptor to be relaunched. New viewers won't remember Sean and will accept the new guy (or gal) without comparision. I just started watching 'Wanted' this series and never knew about Richard Littlejohn until reading this forum.

What _is_ essential is the comic/baddie attitude that Sean excelled in. It's only us veterans who would worry about a change in actor. Of course, it would be nice if Sean was up for it though.

Chris, I hope you'll forgive a plug for the mailing list on the deeply groovy forum on your superb site - particularly as you haven't joined yet (hint hint). :-)

ukgs-l is a free mailing list designed for discussion of UK game shows. Interceptor is a favourite of very many on the list, and Wanted is rather popular too. At the moment we've got a good crowd of about 30 subscribers, but we're always looking for more true friends of game shows; if you want to join, send mail to
majordomo@ox.compsoc.org.uk with no subject and the words subscribe ukgs-l ONLY in your message. Hope to see you on the list soon - especially you, Chris! :-)

Extremely happy today

Sean O'Kane was undoubtedly the star of the show, but don't you think that Mikey provided a damn good rapport for him? If they got Sean back then it'd only make good sense to get Mikey back as well....damn, they ruled.

BTW, someone I know (no really, not me- she even named her cat after hm) was TOTALLY into Mikey...anyone got any sound clips or pix of him?

Oh, and for the record- It may be an expensive show, but with piss-poor trackers like they have now, it can't cost as much as Wanted does.
