Yes, David, you are right...on both counts.

The theme music is a reworking of "Revolutionary Etude" by Chopin. You can download the original or the Theme music from Chris' extensive Sound and Vision section.

You are also right about the second series of Interceptor falling down because of internal wranglings, rather than the show's failure. I seem to remeber there was a big management or corporate change and the ITV licences were due up for renewal only ahortly after (which of course led to the demise of Thames). All this didn't help Interceptor in any way.

What this DOES prove is that Interceptor *was* a good idea and worked as a programme. That is why Chris, myself and the other Int. fans are putting so much effort into getting this realised. I hope you can contribute to this by writing to Chatsworth, Challenge TV, C4 and C5 telling them how much you enjoyed the programme and urging for its repeat or revival. The most important of these is Challenge TV. Please make time to write. The addresses are on the "Contacts" page.

By the way, welcome to the Interceptor fold!

Chris' Site
posted by Lee Beckett on 12:Jun:1998:23:47:42.

I just thought I'd post a message regarding Chris' success in the 1998 Yell awards.

Although he didn't get to the grand finals in London, he did get down to the last 12 sites in his category. This is an OVERWHELMING achievement due to:

a) the site only being up and running for just over 12mnths
b) Yell being the most prestigious and widely recognised and attended Internet awards of the year (i.e. it attracts the most nominations)
c) the fact that Interceptor is sometimes not deemed as being "mainstream"
d) he is up against some of the top UK website designers

I would just like to publicly congratulate him and thank him on behalf of all the other fans on Int who are both on or off the net, for all his hard work in raising the profile of this superb programme.

He now has his own entry in Yahoo - which is also thoroughly deserved, and I hope all who reads this posting sends him thanks for all the work he has done.

Once again Chris, thanks and well done on Yell + good luck for next years' awards!

Dear friends It's great to have found a group of people with the same interests as me. I was speaking to Sean this morning and he was reminiscing fondly about his time as the Interceptor. Sean is now working on Sky's award winning drama series Dream Team as Fraser, the chairman's right hand man. The new series begins on 1st September at 6.30 on Sky One.

Thanks very much for the Sean O'Kane info Karen, its good to hear that Sean is working. I'm sure I can speak for everyone and wish you all the best with Dream Team. Sean (for me at least) will always be the `Interceptor` :-). Even when I watch him in the new John West commercial - its still the Interceptor on that trawler!

I hope Sean is aware of how much Interceptor means to us all. It shows how good it was that there are still many people talking about it and wanting more - some nine years after it was originally aired.

Anyway, I shall be watching Sky One with interest on 1st September!

This program must :
A) Be repeated
B) Be given a new series

The TV companies should realise how much of a cult following the series had...it was truly fantastic and to this day both myself and my friends can be heard to say "I LIKE IT!" at any given point in time.Sean, if you're reading this, We want YOU back...not anybody else...YOU! I have to buy a coat like yours...

Does anybody know if any Interceptor memorabillia is out there? Apart from the theme tune that is. Action figures? Board game? Book? Replica zappers? Model of G-MEAN? Anything....how about original props? What happened to those? Videos? I'd pay good money to get all the episodes on tape.

Good to hear Sean is still kicking around. "Dream Team" is the football-themed soap opera which is produced by Hewland International - a company I have worked with recently to write the clues for a radio treasure hunt show called "X Marks the Spot" (Radio 4, Wednesdays, 1.30pm).

I haven't seen any props or memorabilia. Last time I went to the Chatsworth offices, there was a model of the Crystal Maze and some Treasure Hunt memorabilia but nothing to do with Interceptor. I think Annabel and Sean's contracts had merchandising clauses, but as the series didn't take off no deals were struck. I'd have thought one of the consolation prize kits would have been a reasonable bet for one of the first things to be merchandised.

Chris: Keep up the good work, and make sure you keep this site running!

Wanted
posted by Chris Hart on 15:Aug:1998:21:27:43.

So, Dream Team is about football? Eeek. Oh well. At least Sean is in it and it is made by Hewland. I like Hewland shows such as `Gamesmaster` and `Wanted`. This forum owes a lot to Wanted as it originated on Channel 4's own Wanted forum.

Now wouldn't it be great if they made a new series of Wanted with Sean as the host? :-) Or maybe as a tracker? What do you think?

I read about the merchandising deal in a copy of a magazine article given to me by Chatsworth. What a shame that nothing materialised. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise, because I'd probably still be wearing my battery powered (not included) Zapper right now. :-) I find it surprising that there are no Interceptor artifacts at Chatsworth. Surely they aren't ashamed of their greatest production to-date?

I have the Christmas Special, but desperately want the other episodes. Please, please can someone help.

Thanks for this site!! I was beginning to think I was the only person who remembered this series (previous searches on the web didn't turn up anything for some reason).

Great job all round. I remember when the Interceptor first showed. I was about 12-13 at the time. Me and a load of friends used to watch the show, and then use our walkie talkies to do our own Interceptor game around the fields near to where I live! Cool (well I was young at the time!)

Now if only a new series was made. TV these days is so drab.

Crikey, pages about this program. I had begun to wonder if I had imagined it, and had to check my single !

With all these people mentioning the theme tune, I'm finding it quite amusing given the problems I had in ordering a copy from WH Smiths when it was released, I'm surprised so many people got copies.

When the show first aired, I considered it a poor replacement for Treasure Hunt which I felt flopped once Annabel took over. As the series progressed, I got more and more into it and was very disappointed (like you all) when it never got its second series.

I shall be emailing Challenge TV about it, which is something I had been considering doing for a while anyway (I also want to see the Adventure game reaired).

If anyone wants to email me about the show, PLEASE feel free, as its nice to see people still remember it.

Cheers.

I said I would email Challenge TV about this as recommended on the various pages I was reading yesterday. This I did and have received an email reply already.

This is what it says:

Hi

Thank you for your email to Challenge.

There are no plans at the present time to show The Interceptor but we will certainly pass on your request to see it to the Acquisitions Department for their consideration. It seems to be a popular programme.

We appreciate all feedback and we thank you again for your interest in the Channel.

Kind regards

J Gilchrist

SO, OK its a fairly standard email reply, but the phrase "It seems to be a popular program" is one that I hadn't seen on other peoples replies. It would appear that we are making progress :)

It was passed around about 4 people, so they make sure that a reply is given from the right sections.

Anyone wanting further informatiom, feel free to email me :)

Regards
Derek

Derek,

It's certainly encouraging news to hear that Challenge seems to be taking our requests seriously. I await to see if you get a reply from the Acquisitions Dept.

Can I please appeal to any Int fan who hasn't done already to email Challenge and ask for its return!

On a separate issue, I would also like to see The Adventure Game again, Derek. Has anyone got repeats on vid??? The teapot, the vortex, drachmas, the BBC Micro labyrinth, the darkroom - they all have a place in my Childhood memories.

Just a quick note to say WELL DONE for achieving 3,000 hits to this site. An AMAZING achivement for a site that has only been operational for 18 months and is dedicated to a programme that was only on for 8 weeks nearly a decade ago.

May your memories live forever.....
