Friday 26 June 1998:
Been a while since the last
update. I've finally received my redundancy notice and am currently
trying to find something else to keep the pennies coming in!
Anyway! I hope any
Castle Air fans saw `Don't Try This At Home` last week. It featured G-MEAN's
sister Agusta 109 - G-TELY. The pilot appeared to be non other than
Mikie!!
I've just added a
new picture. I have lots of web space available again now, so I'm
hoping to put up some more movies soon.
Saturday 13 June 1998:
Forum updated - two posts.
Thanks for the kind comments Lee! :-)
Castle Air fans,
don't forget to watch `Don't Try This At Home` later - it COULD be
this week that they are involved in a challenge.
Sunday 7 June 1998:
David Bodycombe tells me
that they are about to restart production of the old Jensen
`Interceptor` car again! Oooh! I've often wondered why they didn't use
one in the show. Not that I'm complaining too much - I still like the
Maserati they used.
David has asked to
be included in the list of fans on the contacts page. There have been
lots of people who have contacted me before about Interceptor, but
I've only included people who I've had a fair amount of contact with
and feel they wouldn't mind. If you want to be added to the list, just
let me know. C'mon, I want a big long list of fans. After all, over
twelve thousand people called the Oracle phone poll for another
series, so I know there are one or two of you out there! :-)
Sunday 31 May 1998:
Concept, Episode Guide and
Forum pages modified.
Saturday 30 May 1998:
I've added the two
helicopter engineers to the Cast & Crew page.
Thursday 28 May 1998:
I've received an e-mail from
YELL regarding the award this site was nominated for. I was contacted
a couple of weeks ago and told that my site had made it through to the
final round of judging and to be prepared to go to BAFTA, London in
July for the lunchtime ceremony. Unfortunately, my site hasn't made it
to the shortlist for the award itself. However, I was very pleased to
discover that I was among only eleven other sites to have made it as
far as the final judging - as the email says - an achievement in
itself.
Three sites have
been chosen for the actual finals.
You'll have to
excuse me for blowing my own trumpet, but I thought you may be
interested.
I'd like to thank Lee Beckett for nominating me in the first place.
This has done my CV no harm at all! :-)
Thanks Lee. Its a
shame I didn't make it to the final - only for the publicity
`Interceptor` has missed out on as a result.
I've added a new image today.
Tuesday 19 May 1998:
I've replaced the old
`Facts` page with a new `Cast & Crew` page. You should see the new
button in the navigation menu on the left.
The `Facts` page
was perhaps the weakest page in the site and I'm much happier with how
the new
page looks.
Please let me know
what you think.
Monday 18 May 1998:
Just a little mod. I've
replaced the old Chatsworth logo on the contact page with their
official logo taken from their letterhead.
Saturday 16 May 1998:
AAARRGHH! I've been waiting
for over two weeks to see the Sean O'Kane advert again. I was
distracted momentarily by a spider, heard his voice and just managed
to catch the same last bit again.
Its something about
a `wake-up` drink, and he is definitely talking to a plant!! He says
`C'mon petal, grow for daddy!` :-D
If you are a fan of the fantastic Castle Air helicopters, you may have
seen what is probably G-TELY
(sister Agusta 109 to G-MEAN) in a very brief clip during the opening
credits to tonights `Don't Try This At Home` - LWT's replacement for
`You Bet!`.
It was VERY brief
as I said, but I noticed someone suspended on the helicopters` winch.
If you didn't see it, I can tell you that the stunt wasn't shown in
the main body of the programme, so watch out for the rest of the
series.
One new forum posting, plus a new picture added today.
Friday 15 May 1998:
Well my ISP has finally had
their bandwidth restored and hopefully my site should be much faster.
I was really
pleased to discover that this site has now been reviewed by Yahoo and
included in their
listings.
Two new contacts
added.
Tuesday 12 May 1998:
I've now finished the rest
of the title graphics. Let me know if you see anything strange!
My ISP is currently
restricted to only half of their contracted bandwidth. This hopefully
should be fixed tomorrow. Until it is fixed, you may notice that the
site is very slow to load. Sorry!
Monday 11 May 1998:
I'm in the process of
improving the titles on every page. You should see the new graphics on
about 50% of the site. What do you think? It should be completed
tomorrow.
I've also added
another contact address - Pearson TV who own Thames.
Saturday 9 May 1998:
Three new images uploaded!!
I've dropped the
old Links page. It wasn't really in keeping with the rest of the site.
I've replaced it with a new contacts page, listing television
companies, other Interceptor web sites and fellow fans.
Wednesday 6 May 1998:
You must read the forum. Read Lee Beckett's latest post. I'm hoping it
will fire you up enough to join the fight to return Interceptor to our
screens.
Tuesday 5 May 1998:
The 89th Forum addition
Saturday 2 May 1998:
Lots of news! :-
COMPLETE. Yes, the
episode guide is now at last finished, and as a result, the site seems
finished.
This may be true, but I will always be adding more and more material
and information to this site. Fingers crossed, but when Interceptor is
finally repeated, I hope this site will come into its own. I've just
added both the Cotswolds and Cornwall episodes, and completed the
spoiler space coding for all pages.
G-MEAN NOT LOST!! A
fellow Interceptor fanatic Lee Beckett has recently received a letter
from Castle Air detailing how they actually sold G-MEAN. I looked up
the registration this week and its no longer listed. I suppose it
could have been re-registered. Good to know its not lying at the
bottom of the sea after all though. Oh and by the way, if you fancy
chartering an Agusta 109 for an hour when you go and collect your
lottery winnings, it will set you back just £930!!
The best news
though - I was surfing the net the other night with the tv playing to
itself in the corner. I suddenly heard a familiar voice. I looked
round and it was the man himself - Sean O'Kane. He was in some kind of
drink advert on Challenge TV. So look out for it. I think he was
wearing glasses and was talking to a plant at the end. I can't
remember a lot about it, because I was in shock!
Saturday 25 April 1998:
By popular demand, I am now adding spoiler spaces to the episode
guides. Chris M Dickson and
Hetein, both thought it would be a good idea if the end result of each
episode was displayed much
further down the page. This would allow people to read about each
episode without discovering who
won, and therefore making the episodes more entertaining should they
ever be repeated. Spoiler space has been added to the first four
episodes.
Wednesday 22 April 1998:
New image added of the Interceptor looking out to sea through his
telescope (used in opening titles).
Tuesday 21 April 1998:
Two new RealAudio clips added - Mikie thinking out loud how much he is
going to enjoy going off on his own, and a contestant spotting the
fast approaching Interceptor! I have also converted the last of the
really big wave files to RealAudio.
Monday 13 April 1998:
New picture added, forum entry added, one long wave file converted to
RealAudio and I have now added Challenge TV's email address to the
main page. Challenge TV look the most likely to repeat Interceptor, so
if you want it back, email them! :-)
I'm also very proud
to announce that this site has been nominated for an award - see the
introduction page for details! :-)
Saturday 11 April 1998:
New RealAudio clip added - Interceptor telling Mikie to stop flapping
his gums! :-)
I lost another
server today and the opening titles movie went with it! Lee Beckett
very kindly came to the rescue and is now hosting two movies for me.
Thanks Lee, good lad!!! :-)
Friday 10 April 1998:
Well, seeing as its Easter, and it appears that people DO still look
here occasionally, :-), I've added a
new audio clip AND a new picture!! Woo! The audio clip is in RealAudio
format (which I will be using a
lot more) and is a cool section of dialogue between Mikie and the
Interceptor during the Cornwall
episode. The picture is the Interceptor at his Cotswolds lair.
Incidentally, I
have been compressing and resizing most images I have uploaded to this
site. I still have copies of most of the images at 800x600 with
minimal compression. If you particularly like one of the images and
want to use it as wallpaper etc, then let me know and I will see if I
can send a better copy.
Saturday 4 April 1998:
New movie added. A fantastic ambush by the Interceptor. It was a great
piece of teamwork. He told
Mikie to stay the other side of the contestant to attract his
attention and then ran up behind him. I like it. Dead duck!
Friday 3 April 1998:
New Borders episode guide added, with 17 pictures.
Tuesday 31 March 1998:
New animated Chatsworth logo added to the introduction page.
Monday 30 March 1998:
New picture added - Interceptor about to `go hunting`.
Sunday 29 March 1998:
New movie added - Roger thinks he's safe, but guess who is just around
the corner!! :-)
Saturday 21 March 1998:
I've reorganised my site to enable easier maintenance and to take
advantage of the increase in free web space at both Geocities and
Tripod.
There are no
cosmetic changes, but the site now has a better structure.
I've modified many
links today to reference the files in their new home. If you notice
any broken links, missing pictures or anything else, please let me
know asap. Thanks.
Thursday 19 March 1998:
Tripod have increased the amount of free web space available to each
user. I have therefore been able to make the Rock Revolution MP3
available for download again.
Sunday 15 March 1998:
New episode guide added. Its the Derbyshire episode - one of my
favourites because of the fantastic
tractor ambush! :-)
I lost 10mb of my
free web space this week, so until I can find some more, one of the
movies is only
available via email.
Saturday 7 March 1998:
Phew has it really been a month since I last did anything here? Oh
well.
I did recently
change my ISP. The new one seemed much better with a fast connection
to the net, 5
mailboxes, 5mb web space etc etc. I spent ages transferring this site
over, restructuring as necessary. I even told a few of you to change
your bookmarks. Well, I'm now less than impressed with the new
provider, with lots of dropped connections and other problems I won't
go into. For the time being then, I'm sticking with Innotts,
especially as they are changing their upstream provider and supporting
56k modems. Hopefully, this should make for faster surfing for me and
for visitors to my site.
I'm going to spend
a while tidying up these pages, and then in a few weeks I'll be on
leave for a week or so again, so look for many more pictures and
movies appearing soon.
Finally for now,
Andy Dudik has posted to the forum with memories of watching the US
Interceptor
Pilot!!! Cheers Andy!
Saturday 7 February 1998:
Does anyone read this news
page? :-)
No site changes as
such, but I thought I would just point out that someone has at last
posted to the forum again! Thanks Lee! Please continue to send your
comments to either the forum or the new Interceptor Mailing List -
details are on the forum page.
Matt Lee has bowed
to the pressure and is putting together a new Interceptor site! YAY! I
saw the intro page earlier, and its looking very smart. Good lad!! :-)
I'll take this
opportunity to thank Lee Redmayne (aka SeaSerpant) for hosting part of
the tractor ambush movie for me! Cheers matey! :-)
Monday 2 February 1998:
New movie added! The one you've all been waiting for! Yep, the world
famous tractor ambush is now
available for download in new MPEG tiny-squinty vision TM. :-)
Actually, as long
as you sit a few feet away from the screen, it doesn't look too bad
running at full screen.
I've split the
movie into three to make for an easier download. The three parts are:-
The ride, the zap and the aftershock.
Each movie is
around 5mb and seem to download reasonably quickly. Well worth a look
anyway! :-)
Sunday 25 January 1998:
Three new pictures added to the facts page - G-MEAN, Sean O'Kane as
Jolly Bob the pirate and Sean O'Kane as the bottlebank man in Grange
Hill
Friday 23 January 1998:
My net sister Hetein has come to the rescue and has set up a brand new
Interceptor mailing list for us.
This will replace
the mailing list some of you have alreay subscribed to. Existing
members will be
automatically added to the new one. This list is different in that any
member can now send to the list and all other members will see his or
her comments. Thank you very much Interceptor Hetein! I like it!! :-)
My ISP very kindly
decided to change their form processing script without telling me. I
have no idea when they did it, but the forms on my site probably
haven't been working for weeks!! This has been corrected, together
with an additional page to enable new members to subscribe to the
Interceptor mailing list.
Thursday 22 January 1998:
I've been experiencing some problems with more of the servers I use to
host portions of this site.
Web4free has been down for a few days, impacting on all episode guide
images, as well as most
MPEG movies.
I have now moved
the episode guide to the Geocities server in the belief that they are
a more
professional outfit and hopefully will have a more reliable server.
Fingers crossed.
Hetein keeps
complaining to me that my page is forever stalling whilst loading the
main page. I have now relocated some images originally found on the
intro page, elsewhere on the site. The midi file should now also
preload whilst you are waiting for your browser to be detected and to
be redirected to the appropriate site.
Saturday 17 January 1998:
My good friend Hetein has just made several modifications to her
pages.
If you like
Interceptor, you will love this site. Hetein is worryingly almost as
possessed by the Interceptor as I am! She even has a pet eagle called
Sean!! :o)
I have updated my
links and upgraded Hetein's link to `site` status as requested! ;o)
Monday 12 January 1998:
This site is spread across several servers around the world.
Unfortuntately, a couple of the servers seem to be down for the
moment, and I've therefore not been able to upload the picture of
Mikie.
Sunday 11 January 1998:
New picture of Mikie added - Taken just before his first You Bet
challenge.
Sunday 4 January 1998:
Reorganisation of the Sound & Vision page. I've now split it into
three seperate pages. It was starting to take a while to load due to
the amount of thumbnails.
I've also arranged
the images in a grid and dropped the file sizes etc. Providing your
browser supports it, you can hold your mouse pointer over each
thumbnail to see a description of the image.
Saturday 3 January 1998:
Happy New Year!
New movie added.
"I'll crack the jokes!"
