In the summer of 1989, a new programme produced by
Chatsworth Television in association with Thames Television burst onto our screens. It
starred actor and stuntman Sean O'Kane as the Interceptor and Britain's former top tennis
player Annabel Croft as the presenter.
Interceptor was an adventure game
show with a difference - it had the look and the pace of a drama, it was shot entirely on
location and unlike any other TV game show, it featured a villain - the Interceptor, in
the central role.
The format of the show was a highly
sophisticated version of the children's old favourite game of hide and seek; two
contestants, a male and a female, working as a team attempt to survive and outmanoeuvre
their enemy - the Interceptor.
